Tour starting in Lisbon
After Fátima we will visit the Monastery of the Dominicans of Batalha was built to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the Castilians at the battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. It was to be the Portuguese monarchy’s main building project for the next two centuries. Here a highly original, national Gothic style evolved, profoundly influenced by Manueline art, as demonstrated by its masterpiece, the Royal Cloister.
After we visit Nazaré, a fishing village that became known for the great waves and the great ripples coming from the Atlantic (canalized by the Nazaré Canyon).
In Nazaré you have one of the most famous breaks in the world – beachbreak – as there is sand bottom there are many peaks along the beach being the most famous “the one of the rocks”.
Last, but not Least, we visit the medieval village of Óbidos, that is one of the most picturesque and well preserved in Portugal.
Within walls, we find a well-preserved castle and a labyrinth of streets and white houses that enchant those who walk there. Between Manueline porticoes, flowered windows and small openings, there are several reasons to visit, good examples of the religious and civil architecture of the village’s golden age.
